My son(8) and daughter(11) have been taking private piano lessons with Dorothy for over 2 years. She is extremely organized, full of energy, patient, warm, reliable and a very good communicator. My kids love that they have flexibility in the type of music they get to play, and she keeps them motivated. She takes an effort to get to know her students and makes every minute count during the lesson. I would highly recommend choosing Dot as a piano teacher!

On a scale of 1-5, I give Dorothy 6 gold starts! Not only is Dorothy an outstanding musician and an amazing professional, but she is a fun and inspiring teacher. Dorothy has tremendous amount of teaching and performing experience and is committed to pass on all her knowledge to her students. She is very effective in making the lessons fun and gets great results. Dorothy provides instructions in an encouraging and positive manner. My daughter loves Dorothy and looks forward to the lessons. With Dorothy, she has learned the benefits of self-discipline in regards to music and other aspects of her life. She takes great pride in helping her students be the best that they can be, which is evident during recitals. Dorothy is the best piano teacher you could ever have. We love Dorothy!

When I began taking piano lessons with Dot, I had some piano experience. However, it had been years since I studied and needed to brush up on my skills before pursuing a music degree at UBC. My new path required that I do an audition to get into the music program. Dot and I set some objectives for the 6 months prior to the audition with the final goal being accepted into the music program. Dot is an extremely talented musician and pianist with very effective teaching methods. Based on my musical background and experience, she was able to adjust our lessons to the level of instruction that was necessary to meet our goals. We not only worked on technique, but also theory, musicality, effective practicing, and building repertoire. Thanks to Dot’s positive and encouraging teaching style, lessons were always enjoyable and I was accepted into the program that I desired.
