Emyr is a Vancouver based pianist and music educator as well as a BC Registered Music Teacher (RMT). He received a scholarship to study a BMus at Cardiff University (Wales, UK) in 2009, and went on to complete a Masters Degree at The University of Oxford in 2012. In the UK, Emyr has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Cardiff Millennium Centre and the Holywell Music Room. Emyr taught music for four years in the city of Oxford, with a focus on the ABRSM syllabus. During this time, his students received many accolades including a sixth-form music scholarship and an organ scholar position at Jesus College, Oxford.
Following a move to Vancouver in 2016, Emyr continued to develop his teaching with further study in Russian piano pedagogy and began teaching from Canada's Royal Conservatory curriculum. His students have received First Class Honours with Distinction in their practical examinations. Emyr’s teaching style is adaptable to the individual needs of each student, but he always strives to unlock the potential in each student. He is a BCRMTA member and registered teacher. In 2018, he created Summit Music, with a mission to provide expert tuition, eco-friendly solutions and maximum convenience for Vancouver parents seeking the best tuition in their homes.
