    Class Overview

    Teaching English as a second language through opposing accounts of historic and current events and exploring opposing perspectives of social issues.

    The goal of the classes is to encourage critical thinking in the process of learning English.

    Each class presents a topic to not only improve one's English comprehension and production, but also develop the ability to evaluate information and form strong arguments in support of or against a particular position.

    Looking Behind the Headlines

    By establishing a strong and consistent basis of evidence we can identify accurate or misleading information in the media. We will look at patterns that can be found in news headlines and explore related idioms and vocabulary.

    Learn to ascertain the accuracy of a news article and learn new vocabulary and idioms.
